I'm a bit of a bohemian style girl, and my apartments is quite a mixture of colours and fabrics and textures. At first glance it may seem like none of it will pull together, but the sheer number of colours is actually what ties it together. Try to stick to a single palate or theme when decorating to truly make rooms and thoughts flow together.
Thought I kept with an overall jewel toned scheme, I kept the living/dining/kitchen to a lighter modern/slightly bohemian feel. It's difficult to pull off bohemian to the extent that it looks good (like you need tons and tons of stuff and fabiric to add dimension) so I kept the bedroom, which was smaller and easier to decorate, in the bedroom.
You can see a few photos below of some of my first steps of decorating.
Take things slow, wait around to find the right pieces, and remember: you'll know it when you see them.
